Rail Replacement
Buses belonging to Blue Triangle wait on the High Road. They are providing a weekend rail replacement service between East Finchley and Camden Town while Transport For London carries out essential work on the Northern Line. The nearest vehicle is T33, an ex-London Transport Leyland Titan. These vehicles were purchased, along with Metrobuses, to replace the unsuitable Daimler Fleetlines. Delivered new in 1979, it passed to Stagecoach when London's buses were privatised in 1994. Blue Triangle bought it in 2001. In the background is the bridge carrying the Northern Line over the High Road. On the left, contractors for BT have dug up the road across the junction with Bishops Avenue. The Quiet Before The Storm
Coaches on school contract work wait near East Finchley station before beginning their runs. Drivers on this work usually position their vehicles to a suitable holding point close to the start of their runs early in case of traffic problems. The drivers take a few minutes to drink a coffee, check their tachographs or read a paper before the daily noise of a bus load of school children descends upon them.
