Uneven football pitch
This is the recreation ground off Alston Street, at the southern edge of the village of Glassford. The ground features an undulating football pitch, which probably offers an advantage to the home team, who may be used to the slopes.

Entering Glassford
Approaching the village from the south, the village sign is topped by a 'school' sign, though for now, there is no school in Glassford, the former building having been demolished in Autumn 2014. A new school is due to be erected on the site of the old school, which lies between the nearest trees to the left of the road in this picture. See also: Image

No children playing now
The sign on the school gate forbids entry while children are playing, but for now, some faded painted road markings and the school gate are all that remain of Glassford Primary School. The former school buildings were demolished in Autumn 2014, and the school moved to temporary accommodation in nearby Strathaven. A new school building will be erected on this Alston Street site in the near future. Former school building in 2010: Image

Downtown Glassford
Viewed from Hunterlees Road, this painted roundabout road junction lies at the centre of the small village. On the right is the Glassford Inn public house, while the village hall lies straight ahead. The Parish Church, built 1820, stands on a small hill to the left.
