Burnham House, Bredgar
This view looks across The Street. John Newman in Pevsner's Buildings of England: North East & East Kent says that the side facing here is 18th century whereas on the other side which faces the churchyard is a "characterful piece of 17th century brickwork". However, there is a stone on the path leading to the front door which shows a dater of c.1520.

Dredging Bredgar Pond
Algae bloom and an infestation of duck weed suggested something needed to be done so we caught the fish (for safe-keeping) and emptied the pond - sludge from the bottom was spread on a nearby field, a new island was built for the ducks and, so far, it all looks much healthier.

War memorial and Bredgar House
Looking east from Gore Road. The concrete truncated cones by the war memorial are wartime tank traps. Bredgar House was purchased in 1867 by a wholesale ironmonger and brassfounder from London called Comyn Ching who had such a large family he raised the roof and added a third storey to house them all. His company, which supplied the railings for London's Royal parks, is still going strong with a Comyn Ching at the helm.

Duck with a late brood by Bredgar pond
There seem to be six left from the original eight in her late brood of ducklings, now a few weeks old and less like animated balls of fluff when they scoot across the pond.
