Kings Hill Farm
This is Kings Hill Farm house that contains the offices for the wardens of the Elmley Marshes RSPB reserve. There is no mains power; electricity is supplied by an internal combustion generator. The RSPB really should invest in solar panels and a wind turbine to maintain their green credentials.

Lookers' hut on Elmley Island
Elmley Island National Nature Reserve on the Isle of Sheppey in North Kent teems with wildlife, including the country’s largest lowland collection of breeding waders. It is about as remote as you can be near London. It is one of the largest bird reserves in England. It is possible to stay there and even get married there. The structure on the left is an old lookers' hut which it is possible to stay in - see https://www.elmleynaturereserve.co.uk/ In the distance is the farmhouse which has been recently restored.

Weather-boarded barn at King's Hill Farm, Sheppey
Rather a fine old barn. The roof is now slate - but was it once thatched? The gravelled area serves as a car park for the RSPB's Elmley reserve, which has its HQ at King's Hill Farm. The neat grassy area behind the fence looked much less tidy 15 years ago, when pigs were kept there. The poor visibility was due not to mist but to falling rain - conditions we had got used to by this stage in the summer of 2012.

Footpath near King's Hill Farm
This path leads from the farm towards the Sea wall along the Swale Strait. It has to pass through the Elmley Marshes. Note; the tree on the right - so flooded conditions.
