Rather a fine old barn. The roof is now slate - but was it once thatched? The gravelled area serves as a car park for the RSPB's Elmley reserve, which has its HQ at King's Hill Farm. The neat grassy area behind the fence looked much less tidy 15 years ago, when pigs were kept there. The poor visibility was due not to mist but to falling rain - conditions we had got used to by this stage in the summer of 2012.
