Cycle parking at St Werburgh's Road Metrolink stop, Chorlton
The recently installed cycle lockers were apparently not yet in use - all were empty and padlocked. The Fallowfield Loop cycleway , which previously used the trackbed here has been diverted to run along one side of the tram line, before continuing along a disused railway line towards Fallowfield. The tram line to St Werburgh's Road had opened the previous month.
Update: March 2013. The lockers have recently received 'BLUC' stickers. It turns out you have to pay to join Transport for Greater Manchester's Bicycle Locker User's Club before you can use them. The lockers are first come first served, but you need to get a key for the padlock (which you then remove and replace with your own), making sure you attach your membership card to the bike. I can only think this must actually be an attempt to reduce demand. http://cycling.tfgm.com/cycling-bluc.htm

Signs at the south east end of St Werburgh's Road Metrolink station, Chorlton
Tram no. 3001 waits in the headshunt beyond St Werburgh's Road station. The South Manchester line opened in July 2011. Currently this is the end of the line, but work is underway on extensions to Manchester Airport and to East Didsbury, which diverge after St Werburgh's Road. The island platform is accessed via level crossings at both ends.

Chorlton Metrolink station
At the present this is the last station but one on this line, but eventually it will be on the long route which will extend from East Didsbury to Rochdale via Central Manchester and Oldham. This route will hopefully be fully operational in 2014.

Car 3034 waits departure time for the long run to Rochdale. Interestingly the destination display includes 'via Market Street', reminding us that a second route across the city is envisaged.
