The station at St Werburgh's Road is currently the terminus for the South Manchester extension of the Metrolink line which opened in July 2011. Plans have been approved for a further extension to the South Manchester line to East Didsbury. From St Werburgh's Road, the line will continue to run along the disused railway cutting to East Didsbury serving the local residents and businesses along the route. Five additional stops will be located at Withington, Burton Road, West Didsbury, Didsbury Village and East Didsbury.
