Becca Hall
The late C18 mansion http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-342219-becca-hall-house-only-at-se419387-aberfo was built for William Markham, Warren Hastings' private secretary. At its rear is a radio mast. Because of tree growth, it's now hard to get a clear picture of the hall from within the square, as seen in Image This is from the bridleway from Aberford.

Becca Hall
Built in 1783 for a certain William Markham, Becca Hall changed hands several times over the centuries including wool magnates and brewing entrepreneurs.
It belonged to the National Grid from 1958 to 1997, housing the Leeds Control Centre until technology rendered it redundant.
Various plans for its use came and went, interest being impaired by the dreadful extensions left behind by the Grid.
It now belongs to Lara Grylls, sister of Bear Grylls. She has apparently now restored the hall to its former grandeur and demolished the unsightly additions left behind by previous owners.
