Bridle gate on the Greenway, Kirkheaton
Next to the railway bridge, which has been surfaced to full width, there is a bridle gate installed at the landowners request, presumably so that the verges can be grazed.

Railway bridge, Wood Lane in Battyeford
This stone and blue brick arch bridge carries the Calder Valley Greenway over Wood Lane at the junction of Helme Lane in Battyeford. Between 1910 and 1968, it carried the Midland Railway's 8Km Newtown Goods Extension from Mirfield Junction to Newtown Goods Station in Huddersfield.

Railway bridge over Wood Lane in Battyeford
This mixed stone and plate girder bridge carries the Calder Valley Main Line over Wood Lane north of Helme Lane in Battyeord just as it has done since 1840. It's reference is MVL 4/5.

South Pennine Boat Club, Battyeford, near Mirfield, Kirkheaton township
Seen from Wood Lane. The boundary between Mirfield and Kirkheaton is the centre of the River Calder (see 1:25000 map), so although close to Mirfield this boatyard is in Kirkheaton township.

Wood lane between the railway bridges, Kirkheaton
Always a gloomy spot. The bridge ahead carried the Huddersfield Branch Line, long since disused, and the one behind the camera carries the main line from Leeds to Manchester.

Arch railway bridge over Wood Lane in Battyeford
This stone and red brick arch bridge carries the ex London and North Western Railway Heaton Lodge and Wortley Curve adjacent to the Calder Valley Main Line over Wood Lane in Battyeford. The lane has a lovely border of blossoming Himalaya Balsam.
