Huddersfield energy from waste plant
Seen over the roof of Huddersfield railway station.
The plant in the distance is a non-hazardous waste incinerator that can burn up to 136,000 tonnes per annum and generates 9.5 MW of electricity at 11 kV. In 2009 the plant operated for 7823 hours and produced a total of 81371 MWh and exported to the grid 69922 MWh. That indicates quite a high 'house load', presumably at least in part to operate the clean-up kit.

The company describes itself as "loose stock dyer of wool and all types of synthetic fibre for the carpet, upholstery and apparel sectors", which explains the imagery on this silo.

Staithes off Alder Street , Hillhouse, Fartown (1)
These are also known as coal drops, although they may have been used for other materials. On top were the Hillhouse sidings, and railway wagons were unloaded and the material dropped into carts below. Each bay has a system of hatches operated by a rack and pinion system. The rail track in the foreground led to one of the chutes. It crossed Alder Street and went along Whitestone Road to join the tramway in Bradford Road. Huddersfield Corporation had two coal trams to deliver coal to local mills.
