Rowan Close and beyond from the recreation ground at Sudbury Court
The top terrace of Rowan Close makes a photogenic foreground (in my view) to the spectacular view across Wembley to London from this outlier of Harrow Hill.

Rowan Close, off Elms Lane, Sudbury
This view shows the three parallel terraces of this small estate built along the contours of the steep hillside from the vehicle access; the fourth terrace steps down the hill at the other end.

Rowan Close, off Elms Lane, Sudbury
The picturesque, tight-knit design of this estate did not anticipate later developments in waste collection. This picture was taken on a Sunday afternoon; either Monday is bin day or there is nowhere else to put the wheelies.

Rowan Close, Sudbury
Off Elms Lane, this red brick housing development of the 1970s makes a virtue of the steep site with an intimate, picturesque layout with most of the houses reached by pedestrian paths.

The path through Sudbury Court recreation ground
The horizon is roughly the summit of this small knoll rising south of the bigger hill at Harrow. Maintaining it as a small open space has preserved some tremendous views across Middlesex for the public.

"Georgian Houses", Elms Lane, Sudbury
The upper, northern section of Elms Lane retains some of its rural character, witness here the lack of a pavement. The two small blocks of flats on the left of the picture are named Georgian House 1 and 2, rather curiously as the style is more vaguely neo-vernacular.
