The lade near Rosshead
The lade draws water from the River Leven by means of the Image; see that item for further details. The present photograph was taken from near that point. See Image for a less obstructed view from further ahead. This is just one of several lades along the course of the River Leven.

The lade near Rosshead
See also Image and Image The lade is depicted on the first-edition OS map (c.1860), and would, at that time, have served the Levenfield Works. These were later amalgamated with the Croftengea Works, which were just to the south of the Levenfield Works, to form the Alexandria Works: see Image

Woods near the Stuckie Bridge
As the 1:25000 map shows, a triangle of woodland is bounded by the approach to Image on the south, and on the other two sides by the River Leven and the lade of one of the works that once stood by the river.

Colquhoun Drive, Rosshead
Colquhoun Drive leads directly ahead. Branching off to the right, in front of the tower block, is Halkett Crescent. For a view from further ahead, taken on the same day, see Image; that item also includes some thoughts (of my own) about the name Rosshead.
