Vehicular entrance for the Polaroid Factory
Just a few days earlier, the Polaroid Eyewear plant here in the Vale of Leven Industrial Estate had been the subject of television and newspaper reports stating that it is to close. It was demolished at the end of 2021. Much has changed since the era when, at the end of each working day, Image would quake under the feet of those heading home. The Polaroid Factory appears in the left background of this picture, but, because of its position, it is not well seen from here (compare Image); the building in the right foreground is that of a different firm, a bottling and packing company. For a view of the factory itself, see Image For views from other angles, see Image / Image / Image

Vale of Leven Industrial Estate
The nearest buildings on the right are those of Houston Co-pack Ltd, with those of Image visible behind them; the gap between them is taken up by a car park; the buildings of Polaroid Eyewear (Image) are not visible from this angle, but are located at the northern side of the car park. On the left-hand side of the road, a depot for McColl's Coaches is visible in the foreground; further along that side of that road are the buildings of Robert Campbell Commercials, and then those of Turnkey Ltd.

Vale of Leven Industrial Estate
Other than from the air, this is probably the best place from which to get a view of the whole estate. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/tagged/place:Vale+of+Leven+Industrial+Estate for related images. In the left-hand half of the image, the arc of housing immediately behind the industrial estate is the Strathleven Housing Estate. Behind that, further up the hill, is the Beechwood and Wheatcroft Estate, extending out like an arm from Braehead and Redburn, part of which can be seen at the far left. A little right of centre, Image can be seen standing alone. Two outlying buildings on the right are a Image (with Image visible behind it) and a Image
