Hassard Street, E2
Photo taken from Hackney Road. The block at the end is James Hammett House. It is on a Tower Hamlets Council Estate but some flats have been bought. 2 bed flats in the block are selling currently for over £200,000.

Detail of Dorset Estate, Diss Street
There are eight small blocks on the estate, each of which is named after one of the Tolpuddle Martyrs. That is, at least, what I read, but in fact there were six martyrs, a further block is named after Robert Owen, and this one a prominent Chartist. The sign looks original (c1955), with its clean, unfussy typeface. It's quite a relief that the buildings haven't been renamed and disfigured by gaudy signs.

The Sunday morning plant and flower market in Columbia Road, London E2 is a lively and bustling affair. As well as the horticultural stalls are shops and stalls selling arts and crafts, antiques, bagels and all kinds of tasty delicacies.

Ravenscroft Park E2
Judging by OS the park has been created or enlarged by the demolition of buildings on the corner of Columbia Road and Ravenscroft Street.http://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/lgsl/451-500/461_parks/a_-_z_of_parks.aspx#R

Ravenscroft Park E2, play area
The park is a quart in a pint pot, packed with facilities, and must be heaving in fine weather. The resilient rubber crumb safety surface can be clearly seen - it can cost as much or more than the play equipment.

Dorset Estate, Diss Street (1)
A striking testament to the architect Berthold Lubetkin's "undying interest in pattern-making". The estate, designed by Skinner, Bailey & Lubetkin in 1955-57, comprises two Y-shaped blocks, eight smaller ones, each named after one of the Tolpuddle Martyrs, a pub and a library. The main materials are reinforced concrete faced in Kentish-ragstone aggregate.

Ezra Street E2
Columbia Road and the streets around are full of small shops selling second-hand and new furniture, household goods, garden furniture and ornaments. The building at the end, near the corner of Ravenscroft Street, is an emporium - a quick glance inside suggested a 1950s Ikea.
