St Lawrence, Wynford Eagle
There is something rather old about this scene, an isolated church in a chalk valley. About 60 people live in the scattered community of Wynford Eagle. Well worth seeking out.

St Lawrence Church, Wynford Eagle, Dorset.
This church was built in 1840 to replace a much older one positioned 500 yards to the South.
The nearby Manor House has an impressive West facing facade topped by a huge stone eagle. See Mike Searle's picture
Image It was the home of the Sydenham family in the 16th and 17th century, the most notable of which was Thomas Sydenham, who distinguished himself in the Civil War. However, the last of the Sydenhams died in Dorchester Prison in 1709.
