Rembrandt Close, Whoberley
Strangely, the designers of this 1960s estate decided to place the terraces with the front (right) of one terrace facing the rear of the next (left), alternating the roads with narrow footpaths which also pass between fronts and backs. At the same time they decided to dispense with a pavement alongside the road, presumably because it would interfere with the ingress to garages.

Altered road layout, Dunchurch Highway
Until recently this was a one-way road between its junction with Brookside Avenue and Broad Lane, where it had a traffic-light controlled exit onto Broad Lane and the A45. This was altered to give it a junction onto the A45 just before Lyndale Road and made two-way between Brookside Avenue and Rembrandt Close with a short section of one way between Rembrandt Close and the exit onto the A45. This required a short section of cycle lane contra-flow, hence the strange set of road markings seen here.

Gorseway, Whoberley
Gorseway is oriented East-West and in winter is shaded much of the day, so ice and snow are slow to clear. A large monkey puzzle tree dominates the corner with Wildcroft Road. The frost covered trees in the distance are on Hearsall Common (SP3078). 1920s/30s bay-fronted brick houses in short terrace groups.

A45 Christmas lights
A light array warns drivers on the A45 of 'new traffic signals ahead'. There were traffic lights previously but the new ones are associated with a new roundabout to be negotiated. The red signs do warn of 'new road layout ahead'. Almost all the junctions on the Coventry section of the A45 have been modified (or are still being modified) during the past three years.

Gorseway at Wildcroft Road
The snow had been falling steadily and reached approx 4"(10cm) by this time. The car on the left is gingerly negotiating Wildcroft Road which, as a bus route, would be gritted at some point. The houses are 1930s bay-windowed semis and short terraces, typical of several of Coventry's suburbs.
