Hill Top, Coventry
"Well, I don't know, but I've been told/The streets in heaven are paved with gold." (Bob Dylan, I Shall Be Free). Hill Top is a narrow alleyway, widening into a back street, that leads from Priory Row on the hilltop by Holy Trinity Church down to Fairfax Street by the Pool Meadow bus station. https://www.bobdylan.com/songs/i-shall-be-free-no-10/ "It’s something I learned over in England."

Vikings in the Cathedral
This is a detail from the Swedish windows in Coventry Cathedral. This one illustrates the life of Saint Botvid, a missionary who lived around 1100. Botvid travelled as a trader from Sweden to England, where he converted to Christianity and was sent back home to preach the faith by St Sigfrid, subject of another of the windows Image The Swedish windows were a gift to the cathedral by their maker, Einar Forseth, and the people of Sweden; see their page on the cathedral website here https://www.coventrycathedral.org.uk/heritage/works-of-art/the-swedish-windows . For more on Botvid see his Wikipedia entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Botvid .

East end of St Mary's
One of the few visible remains of Coventry's first cathedral. On the left is the western wall of the new cathedral, consecrated 1962. A nearby sign gives the following description "East end of Benedictine abbey founded (by) Leofric and Godiva and consecrated in 1043. In 1102 it became the cathedral church of the Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield. In 1539 the monastery was dissolved and the church was abandoned." Over the years the stonework was taken and used in other buildings.

Foundations of Coventry's first cathedral
The foundations of St Mary's Priory and Cathedral, Coventry's first cathedral which was dissolved by Henry VIII in the 16th century. These foundations are the most easterly remains and abut very close to the modern present day cathedral.

11 Priory Row, Coventry
One of three sublime early-Georgian houses surviving in the city centre. Described as "new" in 1741. The facade is distinguished by six fluted Ionic pilasters, attic storey above an emphatic cornice, windows with keystones and pedimented doorcase with Gibbs surrounds. Grade II listed. The fine wrought-iron gates and overthrow are separately listed (Image]). A plaque records that it was heavily restored after bomb damage - in fact only the front is Georgian. I believe it is now used in some capacity by Holy Trinity church.
