Priorities
13 May 2024 | Shop Lifting as requested by local retail partners |
13 May 2024 | Shoplifting as requested by local retail and partners. Response (29 Aug 2024)Your local St Michael's neighbourhood teams have actively engaged with businesses / retailers through the Business Improvement District and LA stakeholders. A group of 10 individuals have been identified for which a greater focus will be given to reduce their offending behaviour. Options include arrest, criminal behaviour orders, placing them in front of the courts for criminal offences and seeking longer term orders (such as rehabilitation orders to address the reason why crime is being committed). Please follow WMP on Twitter / X for specific updates on good news stories and successes. |
24 Jul 2024 | The St Micheal's neighbourhood team will continue to focus on the use of eBikes and eScooters in the city centre. There is a PSPO in place to ensure safe and responsible riding - however, some eBikes and eScooters are illegal and unsafe. We will work closely with stakeholders, retailers and businesses to ensure we focus resources in the right place at the right times. Response (24 Jul 2024)There have been four previous multi-agency deployments focusing on education and enforcement. These will continue. eBikes and eScooters have been seized under Road Traffic legislation; this proactive activity will continue. Please follow our social media platform (X, formally Twitter) for updates as soon as they are posted. Thank you. |
24 Jul 2024 | ASB, drinking alcohol and begging within the city centre focusing primarily on Broadgate and surrounding areas. This can have a detrimental effect on lives of many members of public who work, study or visit the city everyday. We will continue to work closely with stakeholders and partners to identify key nominals and focus resources in the right areas, at the right times. Response (29 Aug 2024)Focus continues to be within city centre for ASB and alcohol consumption. A number of measures have been taken against identified nominals who are behaving in a disorderly manner. This includes arrests for criminal offences, application for criminal behaviour orders and use of community protection warning/ notices. A number of stakeholders are coming together to discuss individuals and locations in more detail to ensure all options are considered to effectively reduce ASB and business crime in the city. |

We have identified a number of people who are causing our communities the most harm. There have been a number of people arrested and processed through the court system. We intend to continue to work with stakeholders, businesses and the community to robustly manage these individuals using the powers available to us. *update 10.08.24* - GA neighbourhood team and our offender management colleagues have identified a group of people causing our communities most harm. There will be a deeper focus on these nominals to ensure robust control measures are put in place as well as offering support for why they are offending in the first place. |
