Very short platforms at Gilfach Fargoed railway station
Viewed from Angel Lane bridge. At about 15 metres long, the platforms here are among the shortest on the UK railway network. Only one carriage door of the train seen here is alongside the platform. The station was built as a halt by the Rhymney Railway in 1908. It is on the Rhymney Line between Pengam and Bargoed.

North through Gilfach Fargoed railway station
Viewed from Angel Lane bridge. Gilfach Fargoed is a stop on the Rhymney Line of the Valley Lines network. Next station ahead is Bargoed. The short platforms (16 metres/52 feet) mean that passengers must alight from the front carriage of the train. The platform on the right is for trains to Penarth via Caerphilly and Cardiff Central.

Gilfach Fargoed station
Station is perhaps a little grandiose. The platform is barely long enough for one carriage - something of an issue when trains of up to four vehicles operate the line.
