Barnwell: a stench pipe on Stanesfield Road
Stanesfield Road is on the large council-built Barnwell estate south of Newmarket Road in the north-eastern quarter of Cambridge. The rusty sewer vent pipe on the right is the usual Victorian cast-iron type, supplied, like many stench pipes in Cambridge, by Ham, Baker & Co Limited, Engineers, of Westminster.

Barnwell: on Thorleye Road
Thorleye Road is part of the large council-built Barnwell estate south of Newmarket Road in the north-eastern quarter of Cambridge. The sewer vent pipe on the right has the usual Victorian base (by Ham, Baker & Co, like many other Cambridge stench pipes), but has lost its crown cap - and the pipe looks to have been renewed in two sections.

Barnwell: up Whitehill Road
This part of Whitehill Road is on the large council-built estate south of Newmarket Road in the north-eastern quarter of Cambridge. Barnwell: removals on Whitehill Road
This road off Newmarket Road takes its name from a farm on whose land this estate was built. The sewer vent pipe on the right, next to the white van, is a utilitarian replacement of the more usual florid Victorian cast-iron type found elsewhere in Cambridge, and on this estate.
