Thorleye Road is part of the large council-built Barnwell estate south of Newmarket Road in the north-eastern quarter of Cambridge. The sewer vent pipe on the right has the usual Victorian base (by Ham, Baker & Co, like many other Cambridge stench pipes), but has lost its crown cap - and the pipe looks to have been renewed in two sections.
