This part of Whitehill Road is on the large council-built estate south of Newmarket Road in the north-eastern quarter of Cambridge. The sewer vent pipe on the right has the usual Victorian cast-iron base, supplied by Ham, Baker & Co Limited, Engineers, Westminster, like many stench pipes in Cambridge, but the pipe itself looks to have been renewed and has a plain rim rather than the usual frilly crown.
