Stanesfield Road is on the large council-built Barnwell estate south of Newmarket Road in the north-eastern quarter of Cambridge. The rusty sewer vent pipe on the right is the usual Victorian cast-iron type, supplied, like many stench pipes in Cambridge, by Ham, Baker & Co Limited, Engineers, of Westminster.
