Old pole, Belfast
An old post in Bridge End between Dalton Street and the Bangor-line railway bridge. At first I thought that it might be the remains of an old street light of the type seen in Image A earlier photo of the street (to be submitted in due course) shows that it had no head in 1991 making me think that it’s an old metal telegraph pole – a taller version of this one Image

Spar "Christmas" advertisement, Belfast (October 2017)
Excluding hotels and restaurants, this is the first humbug advertisement (at Bridge End) I’ve seen. In the old days Woolworths started just after the August bank holiday.

Dalton Street, Belfast (2)
Dalton Street seems to date from the 1870’s. A new stretch Image, to the west of the original street, was built as part of the cross-harbour links scheme in the 1990’s. This part of the old street remains with the original alignment (previously seen almost 20 years ago Image) in the foreground. A building (middle right) at the corner of Bridge End was subsequently demolished. The part at the far right is now a car park. The view is towards Middlepath Street.

Railway arch, Belfast
This arch, at Bridge End, carries the Belfast (right) – Bangor line across what used to be one of several streets of terrace houses. Long since demolished, the site is now vacant but with an estate agent’s sign advertising a new development of apartments - now that’s a surprise!!! The height clearance sign is in imperial measurement only – an indication of just how long it is since the arch was used by vehicular traffic. Image shows the arch in May 2011.

Dalton Street, Belfast (December 2018)
Before the construction of the Middlepath Street cycle lane Image, outward traffic could use the inside lane to turn right, along Dalton Street, towards Bridge End and the city centre. The street is now stopped-up.
