Former Armagh House, Belfast (May 2010)
See Image It seems that the proposal to convert the former Government offices (and once the factory of Greeves, Ridgeway & Co., linen and damask manufacturers) into an aparthotel has been abandoned. According to the local media, the developer is quoted as saying “Unfortunately we have taken the decision to postpone any future development in Belfast at the moment. This is due to the prevailing economic situation and the current oversupply of bedrooms in Belfast.” Image shows the building in October 2011.

Former Armagh House, Belfast (October 2011)
See Image 17 months later and the former Armagh House (second right) is still untouched. For the record – the building was once the OSNI offices before the move to Ladas Drive Image and later Stranmillis http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=26052759 .

The Lucas Building, Belfast
To quote from Box Architects “Retention of a Victorian facade is married to a modern version of the same to complete this important urban block. A glass penthouse level knits the two together and adds a lightweight top to the forty apartment development.” The building is at the corner of Ormeau Avenue (left) and Cromac Street. The original building (left) had been vacant for many years and was a first-class eyesore. A pleasant blending of old and new.
