A floral wheelbarrow on Hodders Lane
The lane leads to Hodders Farm, among others. The display is quite impressive seeing as it's a chilly early April day.

Selective entry to the old railway path
Recent work to include the old Weston, Clevedon and Portishead track has brought a new route for walkers and riders. Note the various methods of gating to restrict motorised users.

A new cycle path
For many years there were calls for a better link between Clevedon and Weston to avoid making a long detour under the motorway. Now the calls have been answered as the Tutshill Greenway has opened recently. It uses most of the old W. C. & P. line, which meets Wick Road here. Unhappily for a new installation, the side gate does not actually close and scrapes the ground.

A trip along the coast
In the old days (1891 to 1940) this was the old railway line; today it has been reopened as a cycle path, allowing users to cut out a long detour around the motorway some distance inland.

No service for the farms anymore
A cow looks a little unsure. This long, straight track on the farmland is where the old Weston, Clevedon and Portishead railway line used to run. The WC&PR was a small, privately operated line that served just this part of north Somerset from 1897 to 1940. It was a 14 mile line that offered nineteen stations, mainly rural, and much used by farmers. The business was perennially stumped for cash and its engines were an eclectic mix of second-hand units. The line had a particularly rustic appeal but the war signalled its end.
