Barclays moved to this building on the corner of Homefield Rise and the High Street in 1982, having previously been further north along the High Street (see Image).

Carousel, Homefield Rise
This carousel was set up in Homefield Rise as part of the Orpington Summer Fete, which took pace over the first Friday/Saturday/Sunday of July 2009. Most of the attractions were in the Market Square (see Image) for example), but this carousel was presumably too big, and it was instead put here, at the junction of Homefield Rise with the High Street - even here some railings needed to be removed. 217-229 High Street
Much of the eastern side of High Street was redeveloped in the 1970s or so, and this is one of the blocks from this era, built in 1972 on a site that included the Coach and Horses pub.

NatWest Bank
Opened in 1908, this handsome building at the junction of Homefield Rise and the High Street has seen continuous use by NatWest Bank and its various predecessors.

Orpington High Street improvement
Work under way on the Orpington High Street Improvement scheme (see below).
Although initial work was on the pavements, late March/early April saw the southern end of the High Street closed to traffic for work on the roadway itself. Here is the northern end of the closure, at the junction with Homefield Rise.
