Newhaven Harbour railway station, East Sussex
Opened in 1886 on the London Brighton & South Coast Railway's line from Lewes to Seaford, this station replaced the former Newhaven Wharf station which would have been out of shot to the far left and was demolished long ago. View north west towards Newhaven Town and Lewes.

Newhaven Harbour Station
The approach by foot from Transit Road has a very down at heel appearance though i have a feeling that any foot passengers for the ferry now go via Newhaven Town.

Newhaven Harbour Station
Opened in 1847 as Newhaven Wharf it was rebuilt in 1864 and toward the end of that century became the Harbour Hotel Station due to the close proximity of the London and Paris Hotel which lay to the immediate left of the station. When that was demolished in the mid 1950s the name changed again to Newhaven Harbour.

Former Harbour Offices and Police Station, Newhaven
This block was built by Sealink to provide offices for its staff. The square building at the front with the door was the offices of the British Transport Police. The window to the left of the door was the Sergeants Office and the window on the right was the main office with a 24 hour Police presence. BTP officers would have to issue permits to lorry drivers travelling to Dieppe. The BTP stopped policing the harbour in 1986 and the offices are empty.

Newhaven Harbour Station
Viewed from the site of the former harbour administrative offices. The view pretty much sums up the run down nature of the eastern quayside at the moment. The Harbour station is one of three in Newhaven all in the space of 10 minutes walk of each other. This one serves the cross channel ferries only whereas Newhaven Town serves the town whilst Newhaven Marina sits deserted. There is a possibility that if the eastern quayside ever does get redeveloped then one of the station sites may become the channel interchange.

Newhaven Harbour Station
There are three stations at Newhaven although today only the Town and Harbour Stations are used. Newhaven Marine Station was closest to the ferry terminal. This station was opened on 8th December 1847 and at one time was called Newhaven Harbour Hotel Station due to proximity of the London & Paris Hotel which was just to the left of the view here.
