Opened in 1847 as Newhaven Wharf it was rebuilt in 1864 and toward the end of that century became the Harbour Hotel Station due to the close proximity of the London and Paris Hotel which lay to the immediate left of the station. When that was demolished in the mid 1950s the name changed again to Newhaven Harbour.
