Hawth Park Road
Postwar housing estate built on Hawth Hill making use of nearby Bishopstone station that was built in 1938. The flats on the right are Hawth Valley Court and Selmeston Court respectively whilst beyond them is the embankment built across a former tidal inlet and valley that carries the A259.

Selmeston Court
The name of the block of flats in the foreground, Litlington Court are the ones beyond. These along with two others out of shot to the right were built in the 1990s on the site of an old tidal inlet that has been cut off to the south by an embankment carrying the Lewes-Seaford railway line and to the north by another embankment that was built in 1963 to carry the Buckle By-Pass. The houses on the higher ground to the left are in Friston Close.

Buckle bypass
The Buckle Bypass is the main road from Newhaven to Seaford
Until the Buckle Bypass was built in 1963, the main road from Newhaven ran under the Rail bridge and past the Buckle Pub into Seaford. In the winter it was often closed due to high seas http://www.sussex-opc.org/index.php?k=175&t=Parish

Buckle By-Pass
Carrying the A259 up Hawth Hill. The by-pass was built in 1963 to replace the old route that travelled around the southern end of Hawth Hill next to the sea before rejoining the current route via Claremont Road. A railway bridge with a width restriction along with another that had a weight restriction allied to frequent flooding of the coastal road were factors in building the by-pass.
