The little track ahead of us is a public right of way, a byway open to all traffic (or B.O.A.T.), leading the short distance to the edge of the River Stour. There is no onward access in either direction along the riverside, but the historical reason for the right of way appears to be that there was once a ford leading diagonally across the river to Pig Shoot Lane. Yeomans Road is one of the original tracks in the Throop area. Today, the southern segment is one of the main roads onto the modern housing estate, but its northern section is still a gravel road. The gravel section forms a public right of way - a byway open to all traffic (or B.O.A.T.) number K21 - here, we see it at its northern end, approaching Throop Road. A small channel has formed on the main, walkable gravel part of the path just here, emptying out into the Stour shortly ahead. This is a photograph taken on the 3rd August 2008 of Throop Mill which is an old turbine driven Mill built circa. 1900. There has been a mill on this site of some description since the eleventh century. I have fond memories of visiting this area in my childhood.
