Southbourne: northern end of Admiralty Road
Looking across Church Road along Admiralty Road, which appears to be tarmacked rather less evenly than an average road, and I think it may have been gravel until relatively recent years. Admiralty Road is a public right of way, number I07, designated as a Byway Open to All Traffic (or B.O.A.T.). This previously applied to the whole length of the road, but the road has been truncated now and the designation of the right of way truncated even more. See Image for the next view along the road, with links to further photos along the extant and defunct routes.

Southbourne: northern half of Admiralty Road
Admiralty Road is a public right of way, number I07, designated as a Byway Open to All Traffic (or B.O.A.T.). This previously applied to the whole length of the road, but the road has been truncated now, some distance behind us, and the designation of the right of way truncated to about this point here, according to recent mapping. This seems to coincide with the change in surface, from regular tarmacking with pavements behind us, compared with the rougher surface ahead. See Image for the next view on the road ahead, and Image for the next view along the road behind us, with links to further photos along the road and former course.

Southbourne: extent of B.O.A.T. on Admiralty Road
Admiralty Road is a public right of way, number I07, designated as a Byway Open to All Traffic (or B.O.A.T.). This previously applied to the whole length of the road, but the road has been truncated now, some distance ahead, and the designation of the right of way truncated to about the point just ahead, according to recent mapping. This seems to coincide with the change in surface, from regular tarmacking with pavements beyond, compared with the rougher surface here. See Image for the view towards us from the change in surface, and Image for the next view along the road ahead, with links to further photos along the road and former course.

Southbourne: footpath I14 reaches Hengistbury Road
This public footpath leads from Sunnylands Avenue (behind us) to Hengistbury Road by crossing the grounds of St. Peter's School - it forms a boundary between the main school site (right) and its playing fields (left). The school is undergoing major building works, with considerable expansion, and as such there is a lot of temporary fencing between the works compound (left), which is accessed here, and the school. See Image for the view along the path from the road ahead, and Image for the next view on the path behind us, with links to further photos along the route, and continuing paths heading to Southlands Avenue and Belle Vue Road.

Southbourne: postbox № BH6 188, Church Road
This George VI-reign postbox stands at the eastern end of Church Road, where it becomes Dalmeny Road. Ahead of us, we look down Wildown Road and, in the distance and partly obscured by a lamppost, the tower of the Image may just be discerned.

Southbourne: the end of Hengistbury Road
The dead end, here, of Hengistbury Road continues as a driveway for St. Peter's School, and also as public footpath number I14, directly ahead, leading to Sunnylands Avenue. The school is undergoing major building works, with considerable expansion, and as such there is a lot of temporary fencing here as the works compound is accessed from this point. See Image for the next view on the footpath ahead, with links to further photos along the route, and continuing paths heading to Southlands Avenue and Belle Vue Road.

The Pebbles, Church Rd, Bournemouth
This is a good example of densification of housing. Two of the original houses, such as those on the left of the picture have been demolished and been replaced with two small apartment blocks one of which is shown on the right. A building which once was just one living unit is thus replaced by a new building with six separate living units. 18-20 Church Rd was completed in March 2007 at a cost of approximately £1.0 million. It consists of two apartment blocks each with six two-bedroom apartments and associated parking and gardens. There is a fair bit of profit to be made as 12 apartments sell for approx. £2.6 million at the original price of £220,000. Even if the two plots cost £400k each, it is still £800k profit. The top floor flats sell for less as they have sloping ceilings. Currently the lower floor flats are on offer at local estate agents at £215k and the top floor flats at £150k.
