Bournemouth: inside Avenue Road Car Park
Looking along the bottommost ramp of the car park; these are the last spaces before the carriageway does two 90-degree turns (off to our left) and runs back uphill directly towards the exit.
The water from the undercarriages of passing cars has produced a very reflective strip down the middle of the carriageway.

Bournemouth: toilets with anti-drug-use lighting
The blue fluorescent lighting in these toilets in the Avenue Road Car Park takes one a little by surprise and its reason is not immediately obvious. However, under this lighting, one cannot see the veins in one's arms and thus it discourages drug use in the cubicles.
I once used these facilities wearing trainers with fluorescent shoelaces and they were extremely noticeable!

Bournemouth Gardens: approaching The Square
Travelling downstream, you are now about to reach The Square. This means you have about ½ mile to go before you reach the seafront and, if you started at the very top of the Gardens, you have completed around 1½ miles.
This is also, therefore, roughly the point where unspoilt, peaceful gardens become the more formal, more busy section.

Autumn in Bournemouth Central Gardens
Taken early one evening in October. The light was a little odd but pretty grey. The colours provided some relief. The park is part of a 3km linear park forming part of the Bourne Valley and cutting through the middle of Bournemouth. Very peaceful and a bit of a surprise.

Bournemouth: newly painted ?No cycling? markings
...so brand new that you can still see the chalk drafting. I am pretty sure the markings along the southern edge path of the Gardens, which is a shared cycle/footpath, have been improved - in legibility and in quantity - during this afternoon. I don't recall noticing them at lunchtime.

A curious octagonal bar in Avenue Road with, it has to be said, a rather unimaginative name. It has lain unoccupied for several years before being recently reopened.

Marks & Spencer store - site of Bournemouth's first Quaker meeting house
The town's original Quaker meeting house stood here on part of the present site of the M&S store from 1882 until 1964, when it was given to Marks & Spencer in exchange for the present Quaker meeting house in Wharncliffe Road, Boscombe.
