Kinson: the Kinson Hub
Replacing the former library which stood on the same site (Image), the Kinson Hub was opened by wildlife broadcaster Chris Packham on 29 March 2010. The £3.1m development includes the replacement library, local Borough Council housing office, meeting rooms, creche and general community centre. A local resident won the competition to name it, and Chris Packham's involvement is reported to have occurred because the building incorporates concrete nesting boxes for swifts.

Kinson: the Smuggler?s Wain
A new piece of artwork adorning the back wall of Image, depicting elements of Kinson's past. Towards the back is Pelhams House, complete with the present-day signage of the community centre; to the left is one of the Lady Wimborne Cottages (which are dotted around the local area; see for example Image); St. Andrew's parish church stands close to the river Stour. Bygone people scenes in black and white complete the picture. The name comes from Kinson's strong smuggling heritage; the coast along these parts was a hotbed of smuggling activity and inspired Gulliver's Travels (most noticeable in the suburb name Lilliput, in Poole) and particularly Kinson parish church was a well known storage place. See Image for a wider view of the mural in its surroundings.

Kinson: the old library
Kinson's library has recently closed and is to be replaced by a brand new library/neighbourhood centre complex. It is right in the centre of Kinson, by the green. See Image for the replacement building.

Kinson: noticeboard alongside the Green
The community noticeboard faces Image and backs onto Image in the heart of Kinson. The path ahead is public footpath E52, alongside the western edge of the green, and follows the historic course of Pound Lane - there was indeed a pound on the green at some point, long before Kinson became a suburb of Bournemouth. See Image for the view along the path from the far end.

Kinson: footpath E52 on Kinson Green
This public footpath runs along the western edge of Image and is marked on some old maps as Pound Lane, presumably from the days before Kinson became properly built up. Certainly, there was a pound on the Green at some point. See Image for the view along the path from the far end. The mural on the right can be seen in more detail here: Image

Kinson, public conveniences
Kinson Green, a rare sight in Bournemouth: conveniences that are open; perhaps because of bus drivers' clout (terminus to the left). The council is currently considering the future of its conveniences, a topic which has awakened some controversy http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/yoursay/letterstotheeditor/4126520.Toilet_proposal_not_at_all_convenient/
