Replacing the former library which stood on the same site (Image), the Kinson Hub was opened by wildlife broadcaster Chris Packham on 29 March 2010. The £3.1m development includes the replacement library, local Borough Council housing office, meeting rooms, creche and general community centre. A local resident won the competition to name it, and Chris Packham's involvement is reported to have occurred because the building incorporates concrete nesting boxes for swifts.
