Bradford trolleybus 789 descending Bolton Road ? 1971
The background to the view is the former Bradford Corporation power station with an array of the traditional timber style of cooling tower which preceded the modern concrete type, of which an example is also seen. Trolleybus 789 is one of 9 Karrier W vehicles of 1944 purchased from Darlington Corporation when its trolleybus system was closed. Bradford replaced the original single deck bodies with new double deck bodies before they entered service in 1959. The view was taken on the last day of trolleybus operation on the Bolton Road group of services (40, 41, 42). This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=2114547&displayclass=slide
