Campus West, Welwyn Garden City
Welwyn Garden City occupies a central position in Hertfordshire with good road access. In addition to being a library, theatre and art centre Campus West also provides conferencing facilities for organisations such as the NHS which want to have meetings, workshops and seminars for people who come from all over the county. This picture was taken on the day on which a new Suicide Prevention Strategy for Hertfordshire was launched.

Welwyn Garden City: Ayot Greenway
The Ayot Greenway is a 5 mile or 8 kilometre long path between Welwyn Garden City and Wheathampstead, following the route of the former railway between Welwyn Junction and Luton. The line was opened by the Great Northern Railway in 1860, long before the development of Welwyn Garden City, and was closed in 1965. This is the start of the Greenway at its Welwyn Garden City end just west of the White Bridge.

Welwyn Garden City: The White Bridge (1)
Looking somewhat less than white from this angle the bridge was built in 1925 to replace the level crossing on Digswell Road, where it crossed the former Great Northern Railway's branch line between Welwyn Junction and Luton. The bridge became necessary as the development of Welwyn Garden City began in the 1920s. The railway had been opened in 1860 and was finally closed in 1965. The bridge represents the eastern end of the Ayot Greenway.
