St Peter's Church in 1980 - exterior view
An exterior photograph of the church in October 1980. Note the cement rendering covering the front of the church - this was removed in 1989 when it started detaching from the brickwork underneath. Also of note are at roof level the remains of the bases for two pinnacles which used to exist. On the right of the picture an area is being cleared and prepared for a temporary building - the precursor of the 1985 Parish Centre. The front in 2009 can be seen at Image (More information on the church can be found in "The History of St Peter's Church London Colney" by Kenneth Barker, ISBN978 0 95531142 0) Photo scanned from a print from an Ektachrome slide.

Front of St Peter's Church, seen in August 2011
This image of the church front shows the alterations to the main entrance door done during refurbishment of the church in the Summer of 2010. Glass panels have been inserted and the door painted to match the surrounding stonework. Previous views of the church front can be seen at Image and Image for comparison.

Vicarage adjacent to St Peter's Church, London Colney
The building in the photograph is the 1930 built Vicarage for the adjacent St Peter's church. It replaced an older building on the site, bought in 1829 for housing the incumbent after the opening of the church in 1825/26. The old building may have been one of the many coaching inns that existed in London Colney at the time, but there is no positive evidence available. London Colney only became a parish with a Vicar in 1909 so it was only called a Vicarage from that date onwards. St Peter's church and centre in April 2016
A clearer view of this church and it's adjacent parish centre, following the necessary removal of diseased or otherwise unsafe trees. The ash tree right of centre is surviving for the moment - we have been warned that the spread of a disease affecting ash trees may see this one go ere long as well. For comparison, see Image and Image taken in 2009.

St Peter's Church - interior view in 1980
An interior view towards the 'East' end of the church, taken as work started on a major reordering of the church interior in September 1980 - note the upturned pulpit top right! The choir stalls have been moved back from their original position close to the central aisle. Photograph is from a scan of an Ektachrome slide subsequently adjusted in Photobox to improve brightness and contrast.

St Peter's church interior in September 2000
The interior of St Peter's church in September 2000, following relighting of the church in July and August. Comparison with other photos will show the removal of dangling 'cluster' lights; they were replaced by small spotlights mounted on the beam supports against the wall. One set can be seen on the left of the picture.
