Bridgend
You would never imagine that you are looking along the line of the former Great North of Scotland Railway to Macduff. It ran right through this field, passing just to the left of Bridgend.

Footbridge
The bridge is still in good repair, though the tracks leading to and from it in both directions are so overgrown that it's not obvious where they actually went. In Victorian times there was a ford at this point, and a footbridge a few metres downstream.

Auld Dyke
The dyke, now half-smothered by grass and moss, marks one side of what used to be a track.

Once a Track
Now a linear piece of overgrown waste ground. It didn't make for rapid progress, but it was marginally preferable to braving the electric fence on the left or the plantation guarded by a row of hawthorn bushes on the right.
