North Newbald from the east
From an elevation of about 115m, on the lane that descends steeply into the village from High Hunsley. St Nicholas's Church tower is the most prominent landmark.

Hound of Heaven, St Nicholas' Church, North Newbald

St Nicholas's Church, North Newbald
Described by Nikolaus Pevsner as, ‘the most complete Norman Church in the East Riding’ and often called ‘The Cathedral of the Wolds’. An earlier church was recorded in Newbald in the Domesday Survey but the present church was built around 1140. It is Newbald’s only Grade 1 listed building.
