Speed enforcement - update

We have completed multiple Speed Enforcement events throughout July and August and as a result multiple drivers have been dealt with. Speed checks were also completed in North Newbald and further drivers dealt with. Over the coming weeks and months, we will continue to monitor the situation with the help from the Parish councils with a view to them setting up their own Community Speed Watch.

Water Safety - ongoing

Throughout the summer months patrols completed high visibility presence and words of advice given out. We continue to use social media to promote water safety along with visiting schools to deliver safety presentations.

Parking issues - update

Following reports of parents parking on double yellows when dropping off and picking up, patrols have conducted high visibility patrolling at specific times and letters have been sent out to those parents that are continually flouting the rules. We will continue to monitor the situation at the start of the new term.

Yuletide Christmas Patrol

The festive season brings joy and a sense of community, especially in rural areas where Christmas markets and carol singing are cherished traditions. However, with the increase in social gatherings and activities, it's important to ensure safety for all participants. In rural areas, roads are often narrow and winding, and traffic may be less regulated than in urban centre's. Christmas markets and carol events are likely to attract visitors from outside the area, increasing foot traffic. While rural areas might not typically face high crime rates, large gatherings can attract opportunistic theft or create situations where emergency services are needed. Having High visibility patrols will discourage crime and give a sense of safety and security to people attending the events.

Parking on yellow lines / zig-zag markings outside schools is a potentially dangerous practice which also causes congestion. We continue to work in conjunction with Headteachers and their staff, as well as ERYC Road Safety officers to address the issue.
