Midland Hawthorn blossom
While nearby Buckingham Road has standard issue pink flowering cherry trees planted in the (often ruined by thoughtless parking) grass verges, in Westminster Avenue and here at the north end of Sandringham Road red flowering Midland Hawthorn trees are well established. Could these be the cultivar "Paul's Scarlet" often seen in parks and gardens?
update 2 Nov 2013: I noticed that all three trees here in Sandringham Road had very stunted growth during July, and appeared to be dying. By the last week in October 2013 these had been felled. Strange how all three died the same year.

Where's my pint?
The demolition of the Battle of Britain public house in Birchwood Road, Penn, has taken about five days. This worker, searching for the bar and his drink, has just about given up hope.

New housing in Penn, Wolverhampton
The north end of Sandringham Road in Penn.
All complete are the nine three-bedroomed houses built on the site of the demolished Battle of Britain public house. This side of the wooden fence used to be the car park. Now the developers have to find some buyers.
