Windsor Avenue Playing Fields in Penn, Wolverhampton
Looking north-west towards housing in Windsor Avenue. I have lived nearby for nearly 48 years and this is the first time I have set foot in these fields in Penn, Wolverhampton. Five full sized football pitches are available, plus one junior sized pitch.
The colourful red-stemmed shrub on the right is a variety of dogwood.
This image was taken at 12:00 GMT (UTC) on Christmas Day in 2022. Plenty of dog-walkers were about, but no footballers.
Cloudy and bright with occasional shafts of sunlight.

War memorial in Penn Fields, Wolverhampton
In Church Road, opposite the entrance to St Philip's Church, is a small memorial garden originally laid out for the first world war. The inscription on it reads: "This Statue is erected as a lasting tribute to the men of Penn Fields Bradmore and Merry Hill who served in His Majesty's Forces during the Great War, 1914-1919. The names of those who paid the supreme sacrifice are engraved hereon."

Red stemmed dogwood in Penn, Wolverhampton
This is in the Windsor Avenue Playing Fields. Even on a Christmas Day morning just before midday, when the sun was struggling to break through the clouds, this clump of dogwood at the edge of the woodland appeared quite spectacular.
I do not know exactly what variety it is. I'll be back in the early summer to get another image (I hope).

Windsor Avenue Playing Fields in Penn Wolverhampton
Looking north-east towards Windsor Avenue.
There are five full size football pitches, and a further junior size pitch. Changing rooms, and parking for about fifty cars are by the Pinfold Lane entrance. There are also some areas of woodland with some very mature trees, and a children's playground near the Linton Road entrance.
This Christmas Day 2022 image was taken shortly before midday.
