Worcester Street in Wolverhampton
Looking north towards Victoria Street and the city centre, from near the junction with Temple Street (off to the right).
On the left is a new mural, sprayed on the boarding of a derelict shop premises in September 2020 by Joe Miles. That is not a South American revolutionary leader celebrating a successful coup; it is Nuno Espirito Santo, a former Portuguese goalkeeper reacting to another goal scored by Wolverhampton Wanderers football team. Nuno, as head coach of the team since May 2017, is credited with instilling them with confidence and durability, resulting in promotion to the Premiership, then further strong results, finishing 7th in the next two seasons.

The corner of Pitt Street, Wolverhampton
Worcester Street crosses from right to left towards the city centre. The impressive modern apartment block beyond Pitt Street was opened in 2004 (by a certain politician who owned two Jags!) and consists of retail units on the ground floor, and apartments above overlooking the refurbished open market area.

Worcester Street dereliction, Wolverhampton
During the sad saga of the now abandoned "Summer Row Development", many business properties were vacated and allowed to become run down. Eventually we suppose new development projects will emerge, and in the meantime some new small businesses have taken occupancy of the premises in better condition. This one, adjacent to the White Hart public house has yet to find a user.

Eventually new development projects will emerge, and in the meantime some new small businesses have taken occupancy of the premises in better condition. This one, adjacent to the White Hart public house has yet to find a user. Worcester Street, further to the right still has several such properties, and is a disgrace to the city.

This is the junction seen from Temple Street. The White Hart public seems to survive, just.
I strongly recommend a visit to Bev Parker's web page: http://www.historywebsite.co.uk/lost/WorcesterStreet/shops.htm
