Blakenhall Gardens regeneration site, Wolverhampton
Looking across part of the Blakenhall Gardens regeneration area. The small shopping precinct straight ahead carries a Blakenhall Gardens address, off Dudley Road (the old houses/shops on the skyline). The Asian supermarkets here are recommendable, but don't expect a Waitrose style spick and span and spacious experience; the trading style is quite different.
The last of six tower blocks at Phoenix Rise nearby is being gradually demolished, and the whole area is to be rebuilt with two and three storey family housing. According to the plans, appropriately sized trees will be planted in the new roadways, and existing mature trees will be retained wherever possible.

Derelict land at Blakenhall, Wolverhampton
Looking across part of the Blakenhall Gardens regeneration area. The buildings on the right are in Chapel Street, while those straight ahead are in the much newer Blakenhall Gardens shopping precinct by the Dudley Road. The Asian supermarkets there are particularly recommendable, but don't expect Waitrose style spaciousness or spick and span-ness. The trading culture is quite different.

New housing in Blakenhall Gardens, Wolverhampton
These new houses are not yet occupied, so this cheeky look over the fence into the back gardens might well be considered an invasion of privacy in a few months time. Turf has been laid in some of the gardens in the last few days. As with all modern developments, not a single chimney is in sight, but solar roof panels are already installed.
Update - April 2014: the whole project has been completed - looks very smart, including two excellent Asian supermarkets, and some smaller shops.
