Pear Tree Cottage Inn, Brownhills
Another victim of the recession
From www.thisiswalsallonline.co.uk/news 09/10/08:
Calls have been made for Walsall Council to flex its legal muscle and order the owners of a crumbling Brownhills pub to demolish it.
The Pear Tree Cottage Inn in Pear Tree Lane has been empty for more than three years.
It has fallen rapidly into a state of disrepair and has become a hive of anti-social behaviour.
And because the building is filled with rubbish, concerned neighbours fear it could be the target of an arson attack.

3 years on from the photo Geoff Pick took and it is still standing, although a lot worse for wear.

Chasewater Railway - narrow gauge railway
This is a 2' gauge line running a flameproof Ruston diesel locomotive and an NCB man-riding car. I'm pretty sure this was my first ride in one of these.

Path to Hednesford Road, Brownhills
The slight hump in the path is a rusting railway bridge over the course of a dismantled line. The view is from the south end of a footbridge over the M6 Toll motorway, from Chasewater Country Park. Attempts to restrict who can and cannot use the route have failed, witness the broken fences.

Chasewater Railway narrow gauge line at Brownhills West Station, Chasewater Country Park, Brownhills, Staffs
The standard gauge heritage Chasewater Railway currently runs for about two miles over former National Coal Board track in the Country Park. The railway also has a short stretch of two foot (610mm) narrow gauge railway. It is seen here near the Brownhills West station. Unfortunately no narrow gauge train was running on this particular day. Photographed through the gate by the end of the line.

Exit road from Chasewater Country Park, Brownhills, Staffs
This road has come from the Brownhills West Station of the Chasewater Railway and is heading for the park's exit and entrance on Pool Lane. The main lake here is actually a canal reservoir, and is near to this road, hence the red lifebelt.
