Neighbourhood Officer Details
I’m Inspector Saqib Butt, and I’m thrilled to be your neighbourhood policing manager for the Outer Sector of Walsall. I’m here to tell you a bit about myself and what I hope to achieve in our community.
I’ve been part of the policing world for over two decades now, starting my journey back in 2003 at Birmingham’s Stechford Police Station. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various roles, including time with the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) and Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU). But what really gets me going every morning is neighbourhood policing.
I’m passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives and the places they call home. That’s why I’m so excited to be leading the charge in Aldridge, Brownhills, Streetly, Darlaston, and Willenhall. These areas are filled with vibrant communities, and I’m determined to build strong relationships with each and every one of you.
One thing you’ll quickly learn about me is that I’m all about communication and collaboration. I firmly believe that by working together, we can tackle any challenge that comes our way. Whether it’s addressing residential burglary, vehicle crime, youth violence, or anti-social behaviour, we’re in this together.
My amazing team of officers and I are here to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and act where needed. We want to hear from you, whether it’s at community meetings, local events, or just out on the street. Your input is invaluable in shaping the way we police our neighbourhoods.
To keep you in the loop, my officers regularly share updates using X and WMNow. And if you ever need to report an issue or just want to chat, you can reach out to us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101.
Together, let’s make our communities safer, stronger, and more united than ever before. I can’t wait to meet you all and get started on this journey together!

I am Inspector Becky Taylor and I cover the Aldridge and Brownhills Neighbourhood team based at Aldridge police station.
I joined West Midlands Police in April of 2007 as a Police Community Support Officer and I instantly fell in love with policing and working in the community.
Later that year I joined as a Police Constable and have had the pleasure of experiencing a variety of roles and ranks within frontline policing.
I love my job, and I am passionate in making sure that we deliver the best service that we can to the varied communities within the West midlands.
The majority of my service has been within the Walsall borough, and I feel very blessed to have returned here upon my recent promotion to Inspector, and even more so to Aldridge which is where my journey began all of those years ago.
I am excited to work with such a dedicated team of officers and staff to deliver on our commitment to safeguard and support our communities.

Priorities
3 Aug 2024 | • Illegal off road vehicles. At the height of summer and periodically across the year we all experience issues relating to illegal use of off road vehicles on our roads and green spaces. These bikes are often driven dangerously on roads and green spaces causing significant upset to our local communities. Some are stolen and being used to commit crime such as theft, burglary and other related offences. Response (3 Aug 2024)Last year we conducted a number of operations to tackle this issue which we are again looking at this year alongside working with partner agencies. |
3 Aug 2024 | • Business Crime. Ongoing high visibility patrols across high streets and smaller retail outlets in the heart of our neighbourhoods. We have recently had meetings with staff at stores to highlight key areas they have looked at with regards to making business crime harder including barriers, fire exits and store security guards. Arrests have also been made on certain offenders identified. |
3 Aug 2024 | • Anti social behaviour. Across our neighbourhoods we have reports of ASB that range from various issues but ultimately may have the same effect on people, causing harassment alarm and distress. At present we are focusing on utilising transport links that run back and forth to Brownhills, mainly the number 10 bus route, and working with Safer Travel officers to tackle areas of ASB, incuding Brownhills High Street and McDonald's on Chester Road North. We are conducting patrols to deter and prevent ASB at High Street stores around Pelsall and Brownhills where groups attend and cause a nuisance within. Response (3 Aug 2024)Action is being taken by way of regular and periodic patrols at locations. We are also conducting enquiries and obtaining CCTV footage to identify persons responsible. |
27 Sep 2024 | • Business Crime. A number of prolific shoplifters were arrested this month for multiple offences they had committed at retailers in the Brownhills and Aldridge areas. |

We have also conducted a transport operation with the Safer Travel, Transport Safety officers and British Transport Police, utilising the bus network between Lichfield Road Walsall Wood and Brownhills High Street. A number of youths were prevented from causing antisocial behaviour and were also removed off one of the bus routes for non-payment. We are also working with housing to conduct joint visits to some of the youths and look at tenancy breaches if required. |
23 Oct 2024 | • Off Road Vehicles. From results of our operations earlier this year and the summer months behind us, we have seen a decrease in the number of reported off road vehicles being driven around our neighbourhoods, however there are still a number of reports coming in. Response (23 Oct 2024)In the High Heath area, we identified and served a Section 59 warning on a male driving a road legal moped in an anti-social manner causing an annoyance. This has ceased. In the Engine Lane area of Brownhills, on the Wyrley estate, we continue to monitor the activity at this location and with the assistance of the council we have been able to identify a number of road legal vehicles transporting off road vehicles to the location to use in an anti-social manner. A pattern has emerged whereby various people outside of the West Midlands are attending this location but when notices are served the same people are not returning. |
23 Oct 2024 | • Darker Nights As the darker nights set in, it is important to take extra precautions to keep your home and vehicle safe. We often see a seasonal rise in burglary and car crime across the West Midlands through the autumn and winter months. Criminals will use the cover of darkness to act. Most burglaries happen through insecure doors and windows, so where you can close them, and lock them even when you’re in. If you have elderly or vulnerable neighbours ask them if they would like some help with their home security. Response (23 Oct 2024)Officers are patrolling your neighbourhoods and high streets during darker nights. We are visiting victims of crime and focusing patrols at repeat locations of reported incidents. We are liaising with partners, including housing associations, to address concerns and tackle anti-social behaviour throughout the season. |
23 Nov 2024 | • Business Crime. A prolific shoplifter was arrested, charged and remanded for 9 shoplifting offences this week for multiple offences they had committed at retailers across the Aldridge and Brownhills areas. |

We are liaising with partners, including housing associations, to address concerns and tackle anti-social behaviour throughout the season. Officers on the team have identified and visited a number of youths and their parents at home addresses this last month in partnership with housing association and youth justice team to discuss ASB issues in Brownhills. Warning and banning letters have been served. Since addressing issues with a number of youths, ASB in the area has decreased but we are still monitoring the locations. |
