For many years this building was a pub known as The Wilkin Inn but was known as "The Monkey" in times go by.
The first mention of the pub was in the census of 1871 as "The Old Wilkin Inn".

Direction Sign ? Signpost on the A5 Watling Street
Located on the central reservation of the A5 Watling Street, between the Crown and the Rising Sun in Brownhills West. 3 arms and pawn finial. This is a replica, the original is in Stafford County Museum, Shugborough Hall.

Crossing under A5 by rail (trackbed)
Old railway and now cycle/footpath crosses under A5. Former railway (LNWR) once took freight trains from the collieries of Cannock and Norton Canes south to Walsall and beyond.
