Lichfield City railway station
The West Midlands Railway electric train on the right is recently arrived from Birmingham New Street on the Cross City Line. Fleet number in view is 323240. West Midlands Railway took over the franchise from London Midland on December 10th 2017.

Lichfield City station
Lichfield City is the penultimate station at the northern end of the Cross-City Line which runs from Redditch in the south to Lichfield Trent Valley via Birmingham New Street. The station was opened in 1849 and the present buildings date from 1882. Until 1965 it was also served by a service linking Burton-on-Trent with Walsall.

Poppy wreath and plaque under Lichfield City railway station
Located on a wall of the station underpass, the City of Lichfield Royal British Legion plaque is dedicated to the memory of Private W.R.Davies, Royal Regiment of Wales, who was fatally wounded at this station in June 1990.

Approach to Lichfield City Station
Works in progress (car park ?) and platforms of station behind. In trees on right are the main buildings and entrance. Lichfield City Station became terminus for the cross-city service to Birmingham and Redditch a few years after the service began. Previously the services ended at Blake Street Station (the boundary for West Midlands travelcard validity). Later on, the services were extended further to new platforms at Lichfield Trent Valley Station (for connection to London bound trains).
