Fruitlands in the Mist.
The large 1970's housing estate can just be seen through the mist but anything at a lower altitude is lost. Only the top of Bredon Hill (some 18 km to the east) can be seen. Taken from near the Wyche Cutting.

A pair of shops on the Fruitlands estate. The one on the right is a hairdressers, the one on the left 'Centre Shot' is more unusual, it is an archery shop selling equipment for toxologists.

New houses in Holly View Drive
Built on the gardens of the old Youth Hostel.
Malvern has many large Victorian properties set in their own spacious grounds.
Infilling has been rife for many years and in this case the access road to the new houses has been given its own street name.

Malvern Youth Hostel, 18 Peachfield Road
The elevation facing Peachfield Road.
Quote from YHA press release 14/5/2005: 'YHA is working in partnership with Malvern District Council to find an alternative site to the present Youth Hostel. The current location of YHA Malvern is not ideal for visitors, situated in a residential area some distance from the centre of the town.The building requires investment of £450,000 to make major layout changes so that the facilities can be improved. A major investment is not sensible in the present location. The YHA’s Board of Trustees have agreed to put the building up for sale.'

Holly View Drive
The old Youth Hostel on Peachfield road occupied a former typical Malvern Victorian house in its own large gardens.
The house has been converted into "1 & 2 bedroom luxury apartments" and two new detached houses have been erected on the old garden.
This type of infilling is taking place on many of the larger properties in Malvern, but here the access road has been given its own name "Holly View Drive" and locals fear that this may extend into the adjoining land where planning permission has been sought for the demolition of a bungalow (built as an infill development itself) and the erection of a block of flats.
The planning notices can be seen on the gate to the left of the drive.
